Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour & 3 teaspoons baking powder sifted together OR 2 cups self-raising flour
- 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
- 2 eggs well beaten
- 1/3 cup milk (about)
Method:
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Rub fat into flour lightly with fingers, (avoid making an oily mixture) till flour and butter look like breadcrumbs.
- Add eggs and milk, which have been beaten together, to make a soft dough.
- Place dough on floured baking pan. Flatten top to make a round shaped dough, about ½ inch thick. Cut with flared knife into 8 pieces.
- Brush top with left over milk or eggs
- Bake in hot oven for 15-20 minutes.
- Serve with butter and jam after separating pieces.
